Changing Our Ways…
Ok, now I know what you’re thinking…what the heck is going on here? Well, in our last issue we warned you there were changes happening …and this is the start…a new size.
We know from a recent random readership survey that we did a couple of months ago, more than half of you loved the digest size of Motorcycle Mojo, and in all honesty, we did too. What we didn’t realize is that as our magazine continues to grow…so does our advertising base and our content, and we can only fit so much on a digest size page. And, whether you want to admit it or not, there comes a time in all our lives that our eyesight pays tricks on us. One day you can read the back of a medicine bottle and suddenly you hit 40 and your arms just aren’t long enough anymore to be able to read the fine print on anything. With that being said we felt that we needed to increase the size of the type in our magazine so that our readers enjoy the time they spend on each issue and don’t have to waste time looking for their glasses.
Our survey also concluded that you want more touring and travel features, more maps, more articles for female riders, and more history and general interest articles. We will work toward that as well in upcoming issues of Motorcycle Mojo. If you did not receive a survey and have ideas or suggestions, by all means email me at glenn@wordpress-402808-4571701.cloudwaysapps.com, write or call us at 1-877-665-6624. We want to remain your motorcycle magazine of choice and we appreciate your input.
We have always tried to feature a custom bike in each issue and will now change that a bit with the next issue. We will feature bikes that are more along the wave of custom cruisers and touring bikes, and not so much custom built choppers…ON THE OTHER HAND, in this issue you will also see an ad regarding a Special Edition which will be geared toward Canada’s custom scene. This will be an issue that will feature some of Canada’s top builders, allowing them to showcase their work in a professional publication. Some of these builders you may have heard of, some maybe not, but the work they are doing is second to none. Canada does not have a means for these builders to get exposure on a National level. We decided we would try to do our part and put together a formal publication that will help get these individuals known. A bike show will only garner them local recognition while the show is in progress, once it is over, no one hears of them again until the next show which might be a year down the road.
This special edition is where the custom bike scene can explode in all its glory. Builders, painters and manufacturers from across the country will be able to showcase their work, from a one-of-kind custom to a fantastic paint job to a one-off part created for that sleek, low-slung beauty. If you are in the market for customizing your ride, this special issue will feature some of the best artists in the country, and if you are a subscriber, it will be mailed directly to you as part of your subscription.
With the fall riding season quickly approaching I reflect on the trips I have done these past few months and think that the solo trip I did from Ontario to Alberta was easily my favourite this summer. I spent more time than I should have in Drumheller, Alberta and plan to take my family back there again. Pictures just don’t do it justice. When Emily was two-years old we took her there but she has no recollection of it, of course. When I left Olds, Alberta this past July, I stopped in at Cycle Boyz Customs in Brandon, Manitoba for a night and was treated to a steak dinner with all the fixins’. In this industry it is just amazing how friendly and hospitable everyone is. Thanks for your hospitality Brent. Another highlight of this past summer was heading to Eastern Canada and dropping in on acquaintances along the way.
This year you will also see the addition of a new motorcycle show in New Brunswick in February. So change is good! Just like wine, we are improving with age…can you believe it is five-years ago that we first started this publication? We hope you enjoy this new look and hope to see you on the road.
Thanks for Reading
