Americade promises “biggest ever” for 2011
From its humble beginning in 1983, Americade has evolved to become – according to event organisers – the world’s largest multi-brand motorcycle convention.
This year’s Americade, which will be held from June 6 – 11, 2011 in Lake George, NY, promises to be the biggest in its history. Americade Vice President Christian Dutcher admits surprise at the number of motorcycle manufacturers that are scheduled to participate. “Frankly, we didn’t expect that 2011 would grow like it has. It’s our 29th year and it looks like it will be our biggest-ever. That’s a good sign, not just for us, but for motorcycling in general.”
A total of 15 motorcycle manufacturers are scheduled to attend Americade 2011. BMW, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Royal Enfield, Spyder, Yamaha and Victory are among those who will be hosting demo rides. Americade’s TourExpo tradeshow that will feature displays from Honda and Indian is already almost sold out.
In anticipation of larger crowds, Americade will relocate its social headquarters from Roaring Brook Ranch to the Fort William Henry Resort this year. “This will help centralize most activities, as well as make it easier to walk or take the trolleys to and from the motels, the tradeshow and the social headquarters,” said Dutcher. “It will also enable us to create many more on-site events.”
