Haynes Publishing Group acquires Clymer
Repair manual publisher Haynes Publishing has bought Clymer Manuals from Penton Business Media.
Haynes Publishing, based in the U.K., published its first repair manual in 1966 and has since sold millions of manuals. The firm has more than 400 automobile and motorcycle titles and publishes in 15 languages worldwide.
The publishing company has recently acquired Clymer Manuals, which specialises primarily in motorcycle and powersports repair manuals. Clymer, which is based in Overland Park, Kansas, has more than 500 motorcycle and powerports titles in its portfolio.
Haynes is looking to strengthen its position in the motorcycle, marine, snowmobile and tractor aftermarket industries. Haynes purchased Clymer for $9.25 million U.S.
“Clymer is a business that we have been interested in for some time,” said Haynes CEO Eric Oakly in a press release, ” and we are delighted that we are now bringing such an iconic name, particularly among motorcycle owners and DIYers, into the Haynes Group.
